If You Are Inside During an Earthquake:
1. If you are in a building when this happens, you should stay where you are until the shaking stops.
2. Make sure to cover all vital parts of the body such as the head and neck.
3. Drop down to your knees and hold on to something study.
4. Stay away from any glass, outside walls or doors, or anything that poses a threat or danger to you.
5. DO NOT go outside until you are sure the earthquake is over.
6. Try to stay as still as possible and use stairs to exit the building after the shocks end.
7. Fire alarms and sprinkler systems may go off in the building during the earthquake, so you should be aware of this.
8. Stay calm while the earthquake is happening.
If You Are Outside During an Earthquake:
1. You should find a clear spot to stay put (away from buildings, power lines, trees, streetlights, power cables, or anything that could potentially fall and be a danger).
2. Drop to the ground.
3. If you are in a vehicle you should pull over to an empty location and stop, avoiding bridges, overpasses, and power lines if possible.
4. If you cannot, you should pull over to a space that is closest to the description and you feel is safe.
5. Make sure to fasten your seat belt and stay until the shaking ends.
6. Do not get out of the vehicle if a power line does fall on it. You should rather wait for assistance after the earthquake ends. If not, then get out and avoid bridges that might have been damaged.
7. If you are in a mountainous area with cliffs and big bolders, you should be aware of the danger of falling rocks and other debris. Landslides are likely to occur during earthquakes.
